About Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon (u)(eurasia)
I picked up Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon for the Game Boy Advance when it came out, a release from Ubisoft that landed during the handheld's peak years. It was one of many movie tie-ins at the time, trying to capture the feel of the wuxia film on a small screen.
You control Li Mu Bai and Yu Shu Lien, switching between them as you move through levels screen by screen. Your main goal is to fight through waves of enemies and navigate environmental obstacles to advance the story. The combat relies on a mix of sword strikes and special martial arts moves you can execute with button combinations. You also use a grappling hook to reach higher platforms, which breaks up the straightforward running and jumping. The pacing is fairly quick, and the difficulty can spike during some of the boss encounters. Playing it feels like a brisk, action-focused brawler that keeps you moving forward.
