Cross Hunter - Monster Hunter Version (japan) Game

Cross Hunter - Monster Hunter Version is one of those weird little Japan-only Game Boy Color games that somehow slipped under the radar. It's got that classic monster hunting vibe, but with a grid-based movement system that makes every fight feel like a puzzle. You're basically moving in straight lines to attack, which sounds simple until you realize positioning is everything.
The sprites are chunky and colorful in that late-GBC era way, and the monsters have some surprisingly cool designs. First time I played, I got wrecked by a giant scorpion because I didn't realize you have to approach diagonally. Classic "learn by dying" retro gameplay.
Definitely one for fans of obscure monster battlers or anyone who misses that particular flavor of late-90s handheld jank. The music's got that tinny GBC charm too.
