I picked up Croket! Yume No Banker Survival! back in 2003, a Game Boy Advance title from Konami. It was a time when the GBA library was flooded with quirky Japanese games that never left the country, and this one definitely fit that description. You don't hear much about it, which is a shame because it has a unique charm all its own.

You control a young boy named Croket, and your goal is to explore a series of dungeons to collect golden banknotes. The gameplay is a mix of action and puzzle solving, moving screen by screen through multi-level stages. You use a sword to fight off enemies and a vacuum-like device to suck up items and money. The dungeons are filled with traps and secret rooms, requiring you to bomb walls and navigate environmental hazards. The pacing is methodical, not a frantic rush, and the difficulty comes from figuring out room layouts and managing your health. It feels like a thoughtful treasure hunt where every screen presents a new small challenge to overcome.
