About Comix Zone (e)(independent)
Comix Zone was released for the Game Boy Advance in 2002, a port of the original Sega Genesis title. It was developed by Sega and published by THQ, arriving on a handheld already crowded with action games. This version tried to bring a console experience to the smaller screen during the GBA's early years.
You control Sketch Turner, a comic artist trapped inside his own creation. Your goal is to fight through the comic's panels to reach the final page and defeat the villain Mortus. The game plays out screen by screen, with you breaking through panel borders to progress. Combat relies on punches, kicks, and found weapons like grenades; you can also use your pet rat Roadkill to access hidden areas. The pacing is relentless, and the difficulty is notably high, with limited healing and frequent enemy ambushes. It feels like a frantic scramble to survive each page.
