Classic NES Series: Super Mario Bros. on the GBA is basically the same game you remember from the NES, just shrunk down for on-the-go play. That first jump onto a goomba still feels weirdly satisfying, and yeah, the music’s still stuck in your head after five minutes. The controls are tight, though I swear those hammer bros in world 8 are just as unfair as they were in 1985.
It’s wild how well this holds up—no fancy graphics or gimmicks, just running, jumping, and the occasional panic when you miss a platform. The GBA screen’s a little small for some of the longer jumps, but you adjust. And honestly? Still more fun than half the stuff that comes out now.
If you’ve never played it before, this is where platforming began. If you have, it’s like digging up an old toy and realizing it’s just as good as you remembered.
