I first played Chicken Run on the Game Boy Color back in 2000, when Eidos Interactive was publishing a lot of titles for the handheld. It was a time when movie tie-in games were common, and this one was based on the Aardman film. You control Ginger, the determined hen, as she works to free her fellow chickens from the clutches of Mrs. Tweedy's farm.

You guide Ginger through a series of overhead-view levels, navigating fences, avoiding patrolling dogs and farmers, and rescuing other chickens. The main goal is to gather all the hens in a level and lead them to an exit before time runs out. Key mechanics include digging temporary tunnels to bypass obstacles and using a limited supply of seeds to distract certain enemies. The game requires careful timing and route planning, as the levels get progressively more complex with additional hazards. It feels like a tense, methodical puzzle where one wrong move can send the whole flock into a panic.
