Okay, so this is the GBA game based on the weirdly unsettling Johnny Depp Charlie and the Chocolate Factory movie. You play as Charlie running around Wonka’s factory—which looks way cooler in pixel art than it probably should—solving puzzles and trying to keep the other kids from getting themselves into trouble (good luck with that).
There’s a surprising amount of platforming, and the Oompa-Loompas actually help you out sometimes, which is nice because some of those candy-themed puzzles can get weirdly tricky. The music’s got that eerie music-box vibe from the movie, so it’s either charming or low-key creepy depending on how you feel about Depp’s Wonka.
Honestly, it’s not a bad little licensed game if you’re into the movie or just want something colorful and slightly offbeat for the GBA.
