Remember those old-school virtual pet games where you had to feed, play with, and clean up after a pixelated little critter? Catz is exactly that, but with cats—because who wouldn’t want a tiny digital feline to ignore your commands and knock over virtual furniture?
You start by picking your kitten (I always went for the calico—no regrets) and naming it something ridiculous. Then it’s basically a cycle of keeping it fed, entertained, and not too grumpy. The sprites are surprisingly expressive for a Game Boy Color game—you’ll know when your cat’s annoyed because it’ll just straight-up turn its back on you.
It’s simple, kinda janky in that nostalgic way, and weirdly satisfying when your cat finally decides to stop being a brat and purrs at you. Definitely one of those games you play for 20 minutes and then come back to three hours later because you feel guilty about abandoning your pixel pet.
