About Casper (u)(independent)
I picked up Casper on the Game Boy Advance back when it was a new release. It was one of those games you'd find in a bargain bin, an independent title that came out in 2001. It fit right in with the platform's library of movie tie-ins and kid friendly adventures, a common sight on the handheld.
You control Casper the friendly ghost, navigating through a large, haunted mansion. Your main goal is to help Casper find his lost uncles and restore order to the house. The gameplay involves screen by screen exploration of the mansion's many rooms, solving simple puzzles by possessing objects to move them or activate switches. You also collect ectoplasm, a resource used to power your ghostly abilities. The pacing is slow and deliberate, with the challenge coming more from figuring out where to go next than from any difficult action. It feels like a quiet, methodical puzzle box where you gently nudge the environment until it finally opens up.
