About Casper (europe) (en,fr,de)
I first played Casper on the Game Boy Color back in 1999. It was released by Lucky Chicken, and it felt like a lot of other platformers from that era on the handheld. You control Casper the Friendly Ghost, and the goal is to rescue your friend Kat from a spooky mansion.
You move through the mansion room by room, floating and phasing through walls to avoid enemies and solve puzzles. The main mechanics involve turning invisible to slip past hazards and collecting ectoplasm to power your abilities. You also find keys to unlock new areas, and the pacing is fairly slow and methodical. It can be tricky figuring out where to phase next, but the challenge is mostly about exploration and timing. Playing it feels like a quiet, thoughtful puzzle game wrapped in a ghost story.
