Capture the Flag is a turn-based strategy game released in 1993 for the MS-DOS platform. It was developed by Carr Software and falls within the strategy genre, focusing on tactical movement and hidden information between two opposing teams.

Players control a team of characters on a grid-based playfield divided between two sides. Each turn, the player can direct their units, with each character possessing a limited pool of movement points that determines how far they can travel. Terrain affects movement efficiency, as different tiles consume varying amounts of these points. The primary objective is to locate and capture the opponent's flag by moving a unit onto its tile, while also defending your own flag. The opponent's side of the field is initially concealed in darkness, requiring exploration to reveal the terrain and locate strategic targets.

Gameplay involves managing visibility and risk. Units can be set to different movement stances, such as running for speed at the cost of being more easily seen, or crawling to remain stealthy while moving very slowly. If an opponent's character spots and catches an invading unit, that unit is sent to a prison and removed from play. Conversely, players can capture enemy units found on their own side. A secondary objective exists in locating the opponent's prison, as doing so allows for the rescue of all captured allied units. Players must track enemy positions based on last known sightings, adding a layer of memory and prediction to the tactical decisions made each turn.
