California Games II is that classic Sega Master System sequel where you get to try out some wild new sports after the original’s surfing and skateboarding. Hang gliding’s the real standout—you’re basically just trying not to crash into cliffs while catching thermals, and it’s way harder than it looks. Jet skiing feels a little janky, but once you get the hang of the controls, pulling off jumps is weirdly satisfying. And snowboarding? It’s basically downhill with a '90s attitude, complete with pixelated powder sprays.

It’s got that same arcade-y, pick-up-and-play vibe as the first one, just with more ways to wipe out spectacularly. Still holds up if you’re into retro sports games with a side of nostalgia.
