The game is structured screen by screen; you move through interconnected maps, clearing each area of foes before advancing. Combat relies on simple combos with your main weapon, and you can perform a powerful musou attack when your gauge is full. The pacing is fast, with constant skirmishes, though the difficulty can spike during boss fights.
