I picked up Buzz Lightyear of Star Command for the Game Boy Color around its release in 2000. It was developed by Traveller's Tales and published by Activision, a pretty standard licensed game for that era of handhelds. The game follows the plot of the animated series, sending you on a mission to stop the Evil Emperor Zurg.

You control Buzz Lightyear directly, navigating him through side scrolling platforming stages set across different planets. Your main objective is to fight through waves of Zurg's robots, using your wrist mounted laser to shoot them. You also use a jetpack for limited flight to reach higher platforms, and you frequently have to hunt for key cards to unlock doors and progress. The pacing is brisk, and the difficulty can be sharp, especially during some of the more crowded enemy encounters. It feels like a straightforward action run and gun from that period, where quick reflexes matter more than exploration.
