Butt Ugly Martians: B.K.M. Battles came out for the Game Boy Advance in 2002, developed by Vicarious Visions. It was one of those many licensed titles that filled the portable library during that era, based on the short lived animated series about aliens trying to conquer Earth. You would see this kind of game on the shelf next to other cartoon adaptations, a familiar sight for anyone renting or buying GBA carts back then.

In the game, you control one of three martians, each piloting their own combat vehicle. Your main goal is to fight through waves of enemy robots across various planets. The core gameplay is a mix of on foot platforming sections and more substantial battles inside your mech. You run and jump through levels, shooting enemies with your character's unique weapon, and then you jump into your vehicle for larger scale fights against bigger foes. You collect power ups to improve your weapons and health. The pacing is fairly straightforward, moving from one enemy encounter to the next without much complexity. It feels like a simple, action focused game meant for quick play sessions.
