Bubble Bobble on GBC is basically the same classic arcade bubble-popping chaos, just shrunk down for your Game Boy Color. You’re still Bub or Bob (or both if you’ve got a buddy), trapping enemies in bubbles and then smacking them into oblivion. The controls feel a little cramped compared to the arcade version, but it’s impressive how much of the charm they kept—the music’s still weirdly catchy, and those little dinosaur hops never get old.
It’s got all 100 levels from the original, plus some new GBC-exclusive ones that actually mix things up. The first few are a breeze, but around level 20, you’ll start seeing some real devious enemy patterns. And yeah, Baron von Blubba still shows up to ruin your day if you take too long. Honestly, half the fun is watching him freak out when you’re down to the last enemy.
If you’ve got nostalgia for the arcade or just want a solid portable puzzler, this one holds up way better than most GBC ports. Just don’t blame me when you get the theme song stuck in your head.
