Bubble Bobble: Old & New came out for the Game Boy Advance in 2002, a time when the handheld was full of arcade revivals. This version was published by Taito, the original creators, and it bundles the classic arcade game with a new mode that reworks the old levels. You control one of two little dinosaurs, Bub or Bob, and your goal is to clear each single-screen room of enemies. You trap them in bubbles you blow, then pop the bubbles to defeat them. The signature mechanics are the cooperative two-player mode and collecting the various power-up items that fall from the sky, like candy that speeds you up or fire bubbles that travel across the screen. The pacing is quick, and the difficulty ramps up steadily as enemies get trickier and stages introduce more hazards. It feels like a cheerful, frantic puzzle where you are constantly moving and planning your next shot.
