Breath of Fresh Fire 2 came out for the Game Boy Advance, a time when portable RPGs were really finding their footing. I don't recall who made it off the top of my head, but it fit right in with the kind of adventures you'd expect on the system, offering a solid quest without a lot of fuss.

You guide a young hero through an overworld, moving screen by screen to uncover new towns and dungeons. Your main goal is to gather the scattered pieces of the Triforce, which means tackling a series of multi-floor dungeons filled with puzzles and monsters. Combat is straightforward; you use your sword for close encounters and a bow to hit switches or enemies from a distance. The game doesn't hold your hand, and some of the later dungeons can be tricky to navigate without a map. It feels like a thoughtful, methodical journey where every new screen could hide a secret.
