Brave Saga - Shinshou Astaria is one of those obscure GBC RPGs that never left Japan, which is a shame because it’s got this weird charm to it. You start off with your typical anime-style hero getting dragged into some fantasy war, but the battle system’s actually pretty snappy—no endless menus, just quick turn-based fights with a surprising amount of strategy. The pixel art’s decent for a late-era GBC game, and there’s this one dungeon where the music suddenly goes full chiptune banger out of nowhere.

It’s definitely rough around the edges (good luck figuring out some mechanics without a guide), but if you’re into digging up forgotten RPGs, this one’s got personality. Just don’t expect a polished Final Fantasy clone.
