About Bookworm (u)(rising Sun)
BookWorm for the Game Boy Advance was released in 2000 by developer/publisher Rising Sun. It arrived early in the handheld's life, a time when puzzle games were establishing a strong presence on the platform alongside more action oriented titles.
You control a small worm named Lex, and your goal is to prevent a bookshelf from burning down by forming words from a grid of letter tiles. The core mechanics involve linking adjacent letters to create words; each word you form removes those tiles from the board, causing the remaining letters to fall and new ones to appear from the top. Longer words are more valuable and help clear the board faster, while fiery red tiles will ignite if they reach the bottom, ending your game. The pace is steady but can become frantic as the tiles descend more quickly, demanding quick thinking and a broad vocabulary. It feels satisfying to chain words together and manage the constant flow of letters under pressure.
