Blade arrived on the Game Boy Color in 2000, published by Activision. It was part of that wave of games based on movies, a common sight on handhelds at the time. You step into the boots of the titular character, a half-vampire daywalker tasked with protecting humanity from the vampire threat.

You guide Blade through a series of side-scrolling levels, moving from left to right while slashing at enemies with your sword. The main goal is to hunt down the vampire leader Deacon Frost. Combat involves your sword and a limited supply of throwing glaives; you can also find a submachine gun for short bursts of ranged attacks. The game uses a password system to track progress, and health is managed by collecting blood packs dropped by defeated foes. The pacing is fast, and the difficulty can be unforgiving, demanding quick reflexes to survive the constant enemy assaults.
