I picked up Bionicle Heroes for the Game Boy Advance back in 2006, a time when the handheld was full of action platformers. It was developed by Traveller's Tales, the same studio known for their Lego games, and it felt like a natural fit for a portable Bionicle adventure. The game arrived when the toy line was still popular, offering a different take on the characters compared to the console versions.

You control a Toa hero, moving through levels screen by screen and clearing out enemies before you can proceed. Your main goal is to defeat the enemy Bohrok swarms and their leaders across six different regions. The combat is straightforward; you have a rapid fire attack for most enemies and a charged shot for tougher ones. You also collect Lego studs and canisters, which are used to unlock new abilities and cheats between levels. The pacing is steady, and the challenge is manageable, never becoming too punishing as you explore the themed environments. It feels like a solid, condensed action game built for short bursts of play.
