Bionicle Heroes came out for the Game Boy Advance in 2006, developed by Amaze Entertainment. It was part of that wave of games based on popular toy lines, a common sight on the handheld during that era. You play as a Toa Inika, one of the heroic biomechanical beings from the Bionicle universe, tasked with stopping the evil Piraka and their plans on the island of Voya Nui.

You control your Toa from an isometric perspective, moving through levels screen by screen and clearing them of enemies. The main goal is to fight through six different environments, each themed after an element, to ultimately defeat the Piraka leaders. Your primary actions are shooting with your elemental blaster and using a special mask power unique to each Toa, which you can switch between at certain points. You explore areas, defeat waves of enemies, and collect Lego studs and canisters to progress. The game moves at a steady pace, and the difficulty feels manageable, never becoming overly punishing. Playing it gives you that straightforward, action-focused satisfaction of a portable shooter from that time.
