Biohazard Gaiden is this weird little Resident Evil spin-off on the Game Boy Color that most people don’t even know exists. You play as Barry Burton and Leon Kennedy—yeah, that Leon—investigating some shady bioweapon deal on a cruise ship. The whole thing plays from this weird top-down perspective until combat kicks in, then it suddenly turns into a first-person aiming minigame. Kinda janky, but honestly? It’s impressive they crammed survival horror onto a GBC.
The atmosphere’s actually decent for a handheld game this old—dim lighting, creepy corridors, and those signature RE-style door transitions. Just don’t expect the voice acting or tank controls from the main series. It’s a bizarre little time capsule for hardcore RE fans who’ve played everything else.
