Okay, so Beauty and the Beast on Game Boy Color is one of those licensed Disney games that actually holds up. You play as Belle, obviously, running through the castle and village—jumping over barrels, dodging Gaston’s goons, and solving little puzzles to unlock doors. The sprites are surprisingly detailed for a GBC title, and the music? Straight-up nostalgic, with those chiptune renditions of the movie’s songs.
It’s not just a mindless platformer, though. Some rooms have you matching objects or figuring out how to sneak past enchanted furniture, which keeps it from feeling repetitive. The Beast shows up in certain sections too, and his levels play a bit differently—he’s stronger but slower, so you gotta adjust your timing. Honestly, it’s a solid little adaptation if you’re into retro Disney stuff or just want something lighthearted to play in short bursts.
Fair warning: Some of those jumps are mean, especially in the later castle stages. But hey, that’s the charm of old handheld games, right?
