Battle Network Rockman EXE 3 Black came out for the Game Boy Advance in 2002, developed by Capcom. It was part of that wave of GBA titles that really used the hardware for bright, active worlds, sitting alongside other action RPGs of the time. This version offered some extra content over the original release, giving players who picked it up a bit more to dig into.

You control a boy named Lan and his NetNavi, MegaMan.EXE, switching between exploring the real world and diving into the cyber network. Your main goal is to stop a dangerous cyber-terrorist organization from causing havoc. The core of the game is its hybrid structure: you navigate the internet as a grid-based, screen-by-screen dungeon, and combat happens in real-time on a 6x3 panel battlefield using a custom screen called the Battle Chip Folder. You collect hundreds of these Battle Chips to build your deck, which dictates your attacks and special abilities during fights. The pacing is brisk, with random encounters keeping you on your toes, and some of the later internet areas can get quite tricky to navigate. It feels like solving a fast-paced puzzle every time you enter a battle.
