About Battletanx
BattleTanx on the Game Boy Color came out in 2000, published by 3DO. It was a handheld take on the tank combat genre during a time when developers were pushing the limits of the small screen. This version tried to capture the destructive spirit of its console counterpart in a portable format.
You control a tank commander navigating a shattered world. Your main goal is to rescue your kidnapped queen by fighting through enemy forces across various cities. The gameplay involves moving screen by screen, blasting rival tanks and structures with your main cannon. You also collect special power-ups, like nuclear warheads, to clear out tougher enemies. The pacing is methodical; you must carefully aim your shots and manage your limited ammunition while dodging return fire. It feels tense and deliberate, a constant struggle for survival in a broken landscape.
