BattleBots: Design & Destroy came out for the Game Boy Advance in 2002, published by THQ. It was part of that wave of licensed games that tried to capture the appeal of the TV show where custom-built robots fought in an arena. On the GBA, it was a solid attempt to bring that concept into a portable format, sitting alongside other action titles of the era.

You control a robot you build from scratch, choosing its chassis, weapons, and armor before sending it into combat. The main goal is to win tournaments by destroying the opposing bots, either by depleting their health or knocking them out of the arena. Key mechanics include the detailed construction phase, where you balance weight and power, and the arena battles themselves, which are fast and destructive. The game can be challenging, as a poorly designed robot will quickly fall apart. It feels satisfying to see a creation you pieced together hold its own in a fight.
