BattleBots - Beyond the Battlebox is one of those weird little GBA gems where you build and fight clunky, destructive robots in an arena. It’s not super polished, but there’s something oddly satisfying about slapping together a bot with spinning saws or flamethrowers and watching it tear apart some poor opponent’s creation.

At first, the controls feel a bit stiff—like your bot’s wading through molasses—but once you get the hang of it, the chaos kicks in. The customization’s the real draw here; you’ll spend way too much time tweaking armor and weapons before realizing your masterpiece gets wrecked in 10 seconds by a bot with a well-placed hammer.

It’s janky, but in that nostalgic early-2000s way. If you ever wanted to live out those old BattleBots TV show fantasies on the go, this is as close as the GBA got.
