Okay, so Barbie As The Island Princess on GBA is way more charming than I expected. You start off shipwrecked on this lush island called Eros, and Barbie—well, actually, she’s going by "Rosella" at first—has to figure out who she really is. The pixel art’s surprisingly vibrant for a handheld game, with these little tropical details like swaying palm trees and parrots flitting around.
Gameplay’s a mix of light puzzles (think "find three seashells to unlock the next area") and rhythm mini-games where you tap along to island-inspired tunes. There’s this one song with a ukulele beat that low-key got stuck in my head. And yeah, you befriend animals—because of course you do—but the monkey sidekick actually helps solve puzzles, which is kinda neat.
It’s definitely aimed at younger players, but if you’re into cozy GBA hidden gems or just want something nostalgic with a tropical vibe, it’s a sweet little time capsule. Just don’t go in expecting deep lore or combat.
