About Balloon Fight
Balloon Fight GB came out for the Game Boy Color in 2000, developed by Nintendo. It was a time when the handheld was getting a lot of color updates to older games, and this was one of them. It felt like a familiar title given a fresh coat of paint.
You control a character who wears balloons to stay afloat. The main goal is to pop the balloons of enemy characters while avoiding their attacks and environmental hazards like lightning. You navigate single screen stages, flapping to gain height and carefully timing your movements to dive onto foes. The game can get quite frantic as more enemies appear; one wrong move sends you falling into the water below. It feels tense and surprisingly physical for such a simple concept.
