About Ballistic - Ecks Vs. Sever (u)(venom)
Ballistic: Ecks vs. Sever came out for the Game Boy Advance in 2002, published by Atari. It was a sequel to the earlier GBA FPS, and its title was pulled from the notoriously bad movie that was itself based on the original game. This was during a period when developers were still figuring out how to translate first-person shooting to a handheld screen with limited controls.
You control an agent navigating tight, maze-like levels from a first-person perspective. Your main goal is to eliminate all enemies in an area to proceed, moving screen by screen through industrial and urban environments. The combat relies on aiming and shooting with a variety of firearms; you also collect keycards to open locked doors. The pacing is methodical, and the difficulty can be unforgiving due to limited visibility and somewhat clunky controls. Playing it feels like a deliberate, sometimes frustrating test of patience as you clear each room.
