Bakuten Shoot Beyblade on Game Boy Color is one of those Japan-only releases that never made it overseas—which is a shame, because it’s actually a solid little adaptation of the early Beyblade craze. You’ve got your spinning tops, your arena battles, and that classic GBC chiptune energy blasting in the background.
At first, it feels like a basic fighting game, but there’s some real strategy in timing your launches and managing your spin meter. The sprites are surprisingly detailed for a handheld this old, and the battles get intense when your Beyblade’s about to get knocked out of the ring. Definitely a hidden gem if you’re into retro anime games.
