Man, this one takes me back—Bakuten Shoot Beyblade 2002: Gekisen! Team Battle!! Kou was my go-to GBA game when I was obsessed with spinning tops. You pick your team (Tyson, Kai, or one of the others), tweak your Beyblade’s parts for attack or defense, and then just… let it rip. The battles are chaotic in the best way—your top smashes into the opponent’s, sparks flying, until someone gets knocked out of the ring or stops spinning first.
What’s cool is how different each Beyblade feels. Kai’s Dragoon is fast but fragile, while Max’s Dranzer tanks hits but moves like a brick. Took me a few matches to realize I was better off dodging instead of brute-forcing every clash. And the team battles? Absolute madness when all three tops are bouncing off each other at once.
It’s janky by today’s standards, but the energy’s still there. If you ever yelled “3, 2, 1, LET IT RIP!” into a plastic arena, this’ll hit that nostalgia sweet spot. Just don’t blame me when you start absentmindedly humming the theme song.
