Backyard Skateboarding on the GBA is one of those games that just feels like summer afternoons spent scraping up your knees at the local park. You start off with a basic board and a handful of tricks—ollies, kickflips, the usual—but the real fun kicks in when you start chaining them together over picnic tables and fire hydrants.

The graphics are bright and cartoony, and the controls are simple enough that you’ll be grinding rails within minutes. The soundtrack’s got that early 2000s punk-pop vibe, which somehow makes bailing for the tenth time less frustrating. My only gripe? The physics can be a little floaty, but after a while, you learn to work with it.

It’s not the deepest skate sim out there, but if you just wanna mess around and pull off ridiculous combos, it’s a solid pick. I still fire it up when I’m feeling nostalgic for simpler gaming days.
