Atlantis: The Lost Empire for the Game Boy Advance came out in 2001, published by Disney Interactive. You control Milo Thatch, a young linguist and cartographer, leading a team of explorers on a quest to find the sunken city. The game plays out across a series of side scrolling levels, each representing a different part of the journey from the subterranean tunnels to the heart of Atlantis itself.

You guide Milo through platforming challenges, using his whip to swing over gaps and attack hostile creatures. The main goal is to navigate these environments, solve simple puzzles, and collect special crystals to progress. Combat is straightforward, relying on the whip to fend off bats, fish, and other guardians. The pacing is deliberate, with each screen presenting a new obstacle to overcome, and the difficulty can feel uneven in spots, especially during some of the more precise jumping sections.
