Alright, so Asterix: Search for Dogmatrix is one of those Game Boy Color games that feels like it was made for fans of the comics. You start off in the Gaulish village, and of course, Dogmatrix—the druid who brews the magic potion—has gone missing. Cue Asterix and Obelix smashing through Romans, solving puzzles, and cracking jokes like they always do.
The pixel art nails the comic’s style, and the writing actually lands some decent gags (for a GBC game, anyway). Early on, you’re already mixing potions, bonking legionaries, and figuring out how to get past obstacles—Obelix’s strength helps, but sometimes you gotta think like Asterix. The puzzles aren’t brutal, but they’re not mindless either.
If you grew up with Asterix or just love old-school handheld adventures, this one’s a solid pick. Just don’t expect a deep RPG—it’s more about the charm and smashing stuff. And hey, at least the Romans had it coming.
