This GBA adaptation of Around the World in 80 Days is one of those weird little licensed games that somehow ended up being way more fun than it had any right to be. You play as Phileas Fogg racing against the clock, hopping trains, boats, and even elephants across a pixel-art globe. The turn-based strategy bits are simple but satisfying—you’re constantly juggling money, time, and route choices, and missing a connection by one day feels brutal.
What surprised me was how much personality it has. The cities all have these tiny, charming details (the Cairo market sprite still lives in my head rent-free), and there’s something weirdly addictive about optimizing your route while random events—monsoons, pickpockets—keep derailing your plans. Definitely a hidden gem if you’re into retro strategy-lite games with a travel twist.
