About Army Men Advance
Army Men Advance came out for the Game Boy Advance in 2001, published by The 3DO Company. It was part of that early wave of GBA titles, a time when developers were figuring out what worked on the small screen. You got a lot of portable games trying to capture the feel of bigger console experiences, and this was one of them.
You control Sarge, a green plastic soldier, leading a squad through household environments that become massive battlefields. Your main goal is to fight off the Tan Army, mission by mission. The game plays out screen by screen, with you directing your men, using cover, and managing a limited supply of ammo. You can melt enemies with your flamethrower or call in airstrikes, but you have to be careful; the difficulty is pretty unforgiving if you rush in. It feels like a tense, tactical skirmish in a world of oversized furniture and backyard terrain.
