Play Army Men - Operation Green (u)(menace) Online

Army Men: Operation Green came out for the Game Boy Advance in 2001, a time when the handheld was filling up with all sorts of action games. It was part of the long running Army Men series from The 3DO Company, putting you right back into the plastic toy soldier conflict that defined those games. This one dropped you into a top down view of a miniature war, a familiar setup for anyone who had played the earlier titles.

You control a lone green plastic soldier, fighting through five different environments crawling with tan army forces. Your main goal is straightforward: clear each screen of enemies to advance. The gameplay is methodical, moving from one contained area to the next, using a variety of period appropriate weapons like rifles and grenades. You can also commandeer vehicles you find on the battlefield, which adds a nice change of pace to the on foot combat. The difficulty can be unforgiving, with enemies often swarming you from multiple angles, demanding careful positioning and ammo conservation. It feels like a tense, small scale skirmish where every shot counts.
