Army Men: Air Combat came out for the Game Boy Color in 2000, developed by 3DO and published by The 3DO Company. It was part of that wave of late-era GBC titles that tried to squeeze a bit more action out of the hardware before the Advance arrived. You get a portable version of the green vs. tan plastic soldier conflict, this time entirely from the cockpit.

You pilot a helicopter through a series of missions, taking out enemy ground units, vehicles, and aircraft to complete objectives. The core loop involves navigating top-down environments, managing your limited fuel and ammunition, and landing at helipads to rearm and repair. Signature mechanics include using different weapon types, like machine guns and missiles, for specific targets and navigating through enemy-infested terrain screen by screen. The pacing is methodical; you can't just rush in, and the difficulty comes from managing your resources while under constant fire. It feels like a careful, tactical puzzle disguised as an arcade shooter.
