Animal Breeder 4 (Japan) is one of those weird little Game Boy Color RPGs that somehow makes breeding pixelated animals way more engaging than it should be. You start off picking a couple of creatures—I went with a fox and a raccoon because, honestly, they looked the least derpy—and then you just kinda... see what happens when they make babies. The stats and traits mix in unpredictable ways, so half the fun is laughing at the monstrosities you accidentally create before finally getting that one perfect combo.

It’s got that classic late-90s JRPG vibe with turn-based battles, but the real meat is in the breeding mechanics. You’ll spend way too much time optimizing bloodlines, and the game doesn’t even explain half of it—you just have to experiment. The music’s surprisingly catchy too, in that tinny GBC way.
