About An American Tail : Fievel's Gold Rush
An American Tail: Fievel's Gold Rush came out for the Game Boy Advance in 2002, developed by Hokus Pokus Games and published by Conspiracy Entertainment. It was part of that wave of licensed platformers that filled the GBA library, a familiar sight next to other cartoon and movie adaptations. The game picks up after the events of the film, sending Fievel on a new adventure across the American frontier.
You control Fievel Mousekewitz, navigating him through side scrolling levels filled with enemies like rats and snakes. Your main goal is to find pieces of a treasure map scattered across different locations, from dusty canyons to busy mines. You jump across platforms, use a slingshot to stun or defeat enemies, and collect coins to buy items from shops. The levels are broken into distinct screens you move between, and some areas require careful timing to avoid hazards. The pacing is generally brisk, though some jumps can be tricky and demand a few attempts. It feels like a straightforward, classic platformer where you are always pushing forward to see what screen comes next.
