Altered Beast is one of those classic Sega beat-'em-ups where you play as a buff undead warrior who keeps transforming into increasingly ridiculous creatures. One minute you're punching skeletons, the next you're a werewolf with glowing eyes, then suddenly—boom—you're a fire-breathing dragon. The transformations are over-the-top in the best way.

It was the Genesis pack-in game back in the day, so if you owned a Sega, chances are you've mashed buttons through this one. The Master System version tones down the graphics a bit, but you still get that satisfying, slightly janky arcade feel—enemies spawn in predictable waves, power-ups float by in glowing orbs, and the music has that distinct late-'80s synth vibe.

It's short, weird, and doesn't hold up as well as some classics, but there's something charming about how unapologetically strange it is. You'll probably beat it in one sitting, but hey, turning into a bear and mauling zombies never gets old.
