Remember Altered Beast from the Genesis days? This GBA sequel keeps the same vibe—you still punch monsters, collect floating orbs, and eventually morph into these ridiculous (but awesome) beast forms. The werewolf’s back, but now there’s a dragon, a minotaur, even a weird scorpion thing. Honestly, the transformations are the best part—watching your guy suddenly sprout wings or claws never gets old.
It’s got more levels than the original, though some feel a little samey after a while. Still, smashing skeletons and dodging fireballs feels satisfying, especially when you finally power up and wreck everything as a monster. Just don’t expect deep combat—it’s pure arcade-style button mashing with a side of nostalgia.
If you played the first one, you’ll recognize the "RISE FROM YOUR GRAVE" energy, just with slightly better sprites and a few new gimmicks. Worth a play if you’re into old-school beat-em-ups.
