All-Star Tennis 2000 on Game Boy Color is one of those old-school sports games that somehow nails the feel of tennis despite the tiny screen. You pick from a handful of players (no real pros, just generic "aces" with different stats) and jump straight into matches—singles or doubles, against the AI or a friend with a link cable.

The controls are simple—A for topspin, B for slice—but timing matters way more than you'd think. At first, I kept whiffing serves because I was pressing buttons too early, but once you get the rhythm down, you can actually place shots pretty well. The AI starts off laughably easy, but by the third tournament, they’ll return everything unless you mix up your shots.

It’s not flashy, but there’s something satisfying about how snappy the matches feel. Just don’t expect Wimbledon-level realism when the crowd is four pixels tall.
