All-Star Baseball 2000 on Game Boy Color was one of those solid baseball sims you could actually take anywhere—no small feat for a handheld at the time. You get all the MLB teams and rosters from '99, which means plenty of nostalgia if you remember that era (or just want to see how stacked the Yankees were back then). Derek Jeter’s on the cover, obviously, because who else would it be?
The gameplay’s straightforward—pitch, swing, run the bases—but it’s got that satisfying crunch when you connect with a fastball. Fielding’s a little clunky by today’s standards, but hey, it’s a Game Boy game. You’ll spend most of your time tweaking lineups or trying to steal bases at just the right moment. It’s not the deepest baseball sim out there, but it gets the job done if you need a quick fix between classes or bus rides.
