Alex Kidd: The Lost Stars is one of those classic Sega Master System platformers that feels simple at first—just running, jumping, and smacking enemies with your weird stretchy arms. But then you realize you’re actually hunting down zodiac signs scattered across these surprisingly tricky levels, and suddenly it’s not so straightforward.

The arrow shooting helps when enemies get annoying, and the power-ups give you just enough edge to push through the tougher spots. Some of the jumps are brutal, though—expect a few cheap deaths before you get the timing down. It’s got that old-school charm where everything’s bright and colorful, but the difficulty doesn’t mess around.

If you grew up with the Master System, this one’s a nostalgia trip. If not, it’s a solid (if occasionally frustrating) taste of how platformers used to be.
