This Sega Master System version of Aladdin is one of those weird cases where the same movie got turned into completely different games across consoles. Instead of the slick Genesis version with swordplay, this one’s more of a straightforward platformer—you’re mostly jumping over pits, dodging snakes, and tossing apples at guards. The sprites are surprisingly colorful for 8-bit, and Agrabah’s rooftops actually feel kinda lively.

First level throws you right into the marketplace chaos, with carpets flapping in the wind and those annoying knife-throwing enemies. The music’s a chiptune remix of "Arabian Nights," which somehow gets stuck in your head even with the Master System’s tinny sound. Jafar’s transformations later get ridiculous in the best way—dude turns into a snake, obviously, but also a… floating mask thing? Classic 90s Disney game logic.

It’s shorter than the Genesis version, but there’s something charming about its simplicity. Just don’t expect to ride any magic carpets—this one’s all about the ground game.
