I picked up Aka-chan Doubutsuen for the Game Boy Advance back in 2004, a title from the now defunct Rocket Company. It was a strange little game that appeared during the GBA's peak, a period crowded with platformers and RPGs. You control the baby, navigating him screen by screen through a vibrant, toy filled world. Your main goal is straightforward: find the exit on each stage to progress. You also collect pacifiers scattered around the levels, which often gate your progress or unlock new areas. The pacing is gentle, more about figuring out simple environmental puzzles than dealing with any real danger or time pressure.
